What is Data Storage and Backup?

Data storage refers to the keeping of data in electronic form, so that it can be accessed by your computer. Data storage can be divided into 2 forms; primary and secondary. Primary storage is where data is stored in built-in devices on your computer, such as in your random access memory or RAM. Secondary storage refers to data that is kept outside of your computer system, such as information that has been written to a disc or other external device such as a back up drive.
